Everything About AC Maintenance

Your AC is not just a household appliance. It is the unit that maintains the temperature of the house when it is prickly hot outside. For the optimum use of AC, it is crucial to maintain and keep its filters, coils, and fins in good condition. Let us look at some of the points for AC maintenance practices at home. Neglecting their proper care can lead to ineffective cooling and high repairing cost.

  • Filters: Routinely replacing and cleaning the filters is crucial for the effective working of the AC. Filter sucks in the air and dirt with it, which gets accumulated on it. The dirt clogs the filters making it challenging to suck on the air, which adds pressure on the compressor as it has to work harder. In short, a clogged filter may bring down the entire unit.
  • Coils: AC has two types of coils – evaporator coil and condenser coil – that collect dirt over the time of usage. A clean filter prevents the evaporator coil from soiling; however, the evaporator coil can still collect dirt. The dirt thus accumulated may reduce the airflow and reduce the AC’s capability to absorb heat. The coil is located in the outer unit of the AC. It can also get dirty from the outdoor air. The condenser coil is easily viewable from the outside, and you can know by looking at them if they are dirty and requires cleaning.
  • Fins: The aluminum fins on evaporator and condenser coils are easily bent and can block airflow through the coil.

You must maintain your inverter AC periodically. Keeping the AC parts clean, you can ensure the effective working of the entire unit. Still, if you find it hard to service and maintain it by yourself, you can always call a professional for the AC service. The expert will look at the AC and do the quick repair for the AC to operate smoothly throughout the season.
